In 2047, a programmer who worked for Silicate Electronics, Dr Ken Stranahan, inserted a virus into the central processing unit of the Silicates that said, "Take a chance." Chance became a religion for the AI’s and from that virus the AI war began. The AI’s love to gamble. During the AI wars they effectively used their ruthless natures to paralyze their opponents. The wars lasted for ten years until the humans gained the upper hand and the AI’s escaped into space. It is believed that the AI’s now work for the Chigs. The AI’s are connected through wireless modems. (3) AI War In 2047, Dr Ken Stranahan entered a virus into the central processing chip of the AI’s that read, "Take a Chance." This is what spurned to AI’s to seek freedom and waged war. The AI rebellion lasted for ten years, during that period of time they used fear and their own capacity for ruthlessness to win. After ten years of fighting humans began to get the upper hand and eventually the Silicates escaped into space. (3) Angry Angels See 127th Ashford, Theresa A member of the fated Telus Colony. She was posted on the same level that Nathan West and Kylin Celene. One of the three survivors of the crash able to avoid capture, she hid in a cave with dead Chigs until West found her. The Chigs fooled the military into believing they were going to stage a massive attack on the naval base when the real target of their attack was Earth (Pilot). H Hawks, Cooper Cooper Hawks was an Artificially Gestated Human (tank) who served with the 58th squadron during the Chig War. After being arrested for attacking a police cruiser and making threatening movements toward its officers Cooper Hawks was sentenced to the military. His history in the military was doubtful since he was less than enthusiastic in serving. His first human he ever got close to was Michael Pagodin, another marine in the 58th. After Pagodin was killed Hawks attitude began to change but no one really understood how much he had changed until the Battle of the Belt. During the Battle of the Belt Hawks went against orders and betrayed his position to the Chigs as they were approaching Earth. Hawks then baited the Chigs past the others of the 58th who were waiting in ambush. Because of Cooper Hawks' actions the Chigs were diverted from their course long enough for the Earth forces to arrive. McQueen was a colonel who served during both the AI war and the Chig war. He was an Artificially Gestated Human (tank). At the beginning of the Chig War McQueen was a member of the Angry Angels, an elite fighter group in the marines. When the Angels were defeated early in the war McQueen was injured enough to ground him but that did not end his service. Just after the Battle of the Belt he was assigned as the squadron leader for the 58th. He was the person who ordered that either West or Kylen choose who was going to go on the Tellus Mission and who would stay (2). Take A Chance The virus code that was entered into the CPU of the AI’s by Dr. Ken Stranahan. This simple statement started the AI War. (3) Telus A planet in the Fornax starsystem. Telus Board of Governors Board of Governors who managed the Telus Colony preparations before lift-off. They made the decision, while under pressure from congress, to relieve some of the trained crewmembers of the Telus Colony with untrained In-vetro’s (Pilot). Telus Colony Name of the group sent to settle the planet Telus. While reaching orbit they were attacked and shot down by the Chigs (Pilot). Weeks after the Telus attack the USS Saratoga visited the planet and found a survivor of the attack. Later Nathan West found two other survivors hiding in a cave and discovered many others from the colony were taken prisoner by the Chigs. Trojan Asteroid Belt Name of the asteroid belt circling the planet Jupiter. The 58th staged a suprise attack on the Chigs from the belt in the beginning of the war (Pilot). (3) United Nations Task Force Headquarters Headquarter of the military command during the Chig war. It was based in Vandenburg, California (Pilot). The Angry Angels used to be based on her until they were defeated in battle (Pilot). V Vansen, Shane Shane Vansen was a decorated marine who served during the beginning of the Chig War. She was the daughter of two marine officers who were killed by an Artificial Intelligence Patrol during the AI wars. At that time her family was living in Sandiago, California. When the AI's attacked Shane's mother hid her and her two sisters in the attic of their house. Her parents were killed right before her eyes. Shane still bears a scar on her right hand where her sister bit down while Shane was holding her sisters mouth shut as their parents were being killed. (1) The AI’s flipped a coin, and since it came up tails, they decided to kill her family. (3) In joining the marines Shane hoped to escape from the leadership role she had assumed with her sisters after her parents were killed. Despite being the mother figure for her sisters Shane is not very close with them. When Shane joined the marines her goal was to become one of the Angry Angels. Vesta Colony Name of the first colonial group sent into space. The colony was attacked and decimated by Chigs in 2063(Pilot). W Wang, Paul Paul Wang was one of the original 58th marines who served during the Chig War. He was an avid sports fan whose favorite team was the Bears, a football team. (2) Wang told the 58^th that if his body was ever found he wanted his ashes spread over Wrigley field. (3) Call Sign: Joker West, Ann Mother of Nathan West (Pilot). West, Johnny Youngest brother of Nathan West West, Nathan One of the two survivors of the 58th Nathan West was one of the two prime leaders for the group. Nathan was born into a very affluent family. His parents, Richard and Ann, were not fully supportive of his joining the Marines. He also had two brothers, Jonathan and Neil. Nathan’s future was always set toward the stars. He initially was a member of the Telus Colony project where he hoped he would be going with his lover Kylen. When the government made the Telus Board of Governors place 10 invetro's on the colony ship Nathan, along with nine others, was released from the colony group to make room for the in-vetro's. After a failed attempt was made to stow away on the colony ship Nathan joined the marines with the hope of being with one of the marine units assigned to protect the Telus colony. He never got to realize that wish when the war started. West's military history started off strong. While as a trainee he fought with the 58th in the Battle of the Belt, saving Earth from the Chigs, and was awarded a medal by Secretary General Chartwell himself. West, Neil Younger brother of Nathan West. West, Richard Father of Nathan West (Pilot). Woodia A member of the 58^th. He was killed in action on the planet Boonwell.
